Natalya Soshnikova – Doing What is Right for the Children

Member of the Month Profile: Natalya Soshnikova

First, I would like to sincerely thank the board and all members for your support in helping organize the collaborative practice group in the 12th Judicial Circuit. I feel greatly honored to be recognized as the member of the month by a group of such outstanding professionals.

Natalya has been instrumental in the formation of the Sarasota section and currently serves on the Sarasota council as the Membership chairperson.

Natalya moved to the bay area in 1993 from St. Petersburg, Russia. After finishing Manatee High School, she went to Stetson University, where she earned her Bachelor in Business Administration and Master in Business Administration degrees. Natalya completed her legal education at Stetson University College of Law by earning a Juris Doctor degree in 2008. After working for a local firm practicing primarily in the area of insurance defense, she opened my own practice, Soshnikova Law Group, P.A. in October of 2010.

Initially, Natalya practiced in the area of insurance defense, but decided that this was not the direction that she wanted to take her practice. When starting her firm, Natalya decided that I wanted to not just practice law but to help people and to make a difference. As a mother of 7 year old twins, and having gone through family court with them, she felt that this is an area of law that I could do just that. However, after practicing for a couple of years, found the court process to be incredibly destructive to families and in the end caused more harm than necessary. Families that were already going through a tough time of separating were now caused to take adversary positions in court and fight over finances and their children, causing more strife and spending precious family life savings on attorney’s fees and court costs. The parties often times get so focused on winning or getting revenge that they lose sight of what is best for their children. Natalya found that Collaborative Divorce is a great alternative. She is very excited that Collaborative Law has finally taken off in the Sarasota area and to be able to offer this great option to the local families.
